ZEITGEIST: MOVING FORWARD | OFFICIAL RELEASE | 2011

After a long wait, the third of Peter Joseph’s Zeitgeist films was finally released for free viewing on the internet a couple days ago. I was fortunate enough to attend a viewing of it at a small venue for it’s world premier two weeks ago, and was very impressed.

If you’re not familiar with Peter’s work or the movement that has sprung up around it, it can be summed up as a primer for the fundamental component that is destroying our chances of survival on this planet—a money based economy—and presents a vision of how to correct it: a resource based economy. At face value such a statement is very loaded, and easily dismissed if one is unfamiliar with it, however, if you genuinely wish to see a better, brighter future for this planet and our decedents—or at least a future where humanity has a fighting chance at survival—then you need to see this film and at least it’s predecessor, Zeitgeist: Addendum.

Be warned—these films will very likely change your relationship with money, capitalism and material waste, and may just give you the courage to change some things about your current lifestyle. If you connect with what you see, please—PLEASE!—pass it on!!!

Remembering The Future : NPR

NPR did a report last week on a recent study performed by a recognized, reputable scientist—Daryl Bem of Cornell University—who’s findings suggest that events that have yet to happen may influence our awareness in the present. While not a new notion, this study appears to be the first of it’s kind aiming to develop some means of empirically testing for such phenomenon.

There’s a lot that could be said on this subject, above and beyond the contents of the NPR story…so for now I’ll just recommend reading the article (linked below) and wait to go down that rabbit hole if someone prompts it with some comments.

Enjoy!

Salvia Ingredient Studied As Medical Treatment : NPR

NPR

Salvia Divinorum is one of those rare psychedelics that’s actually legal in the U.S.—at least in most states. It’s a wild—though brief—ride…and one that played an influential role in my life some years back.

This green, leafy wonder is currently being considered for it’s potential therapeutic uses, treating such things as drug addictions, chronic pain and manic depression, as you’ll hear in the report.

Salvia Divinorum
The great thing about Salvia is its temporary effects—lasting only a couple minutes per dosage—making it an excellent means for experimenting with altering one’s perception of reality and exploring some of the deeper mysteries of the mind without a major [time] commitment.

I found the experience to be quite revelatory, but for anyone who hasn’t already experimented with other psychedelics I highly recommend doing your homework before cavalierly diving into this particular pool—it may be deeper than you’re ready for.

Lastly, like many who work with such substances, I treat such experiences as sacred journeys, which is something I would urge for anyone considering such ventures. For any mature, responsible adults prepared to experience something thoroughly otherworldly, you won’t be disappointed.

Even Knowingly Taking A Placebo Seems To Help : NPR

File this one under Mind over Matter: a report that aired on NPR just before the holidays discusses how new research is showing that even when patients are informed that they are taking a placebo that they still derive benefits. For anyone skeptical about the healing powers of the mind, this will give you some food for thought. Give a listen below:
