I actually posted this page out of sequence when I began hyping the new comic, so thought I should make a quick re-post to keep things moving linearly from the beginning, now.

Ok, more new art for all my peeps! If you’re one of those kind souls who’s been voting for me on Facebook—or you’re inclined to become one—here’s the link to vote!
Thanks!
Ok, here’s the pencils for the 2nd page of the new comic I’m working on (please click to enlarge). Depending on how well you know me you may recognize the character being introduced in this page—Solar Powered Man (SPM).
If you read the Sponsorship Special comic then you might recall having seen a glimpse of this luminous being betwixt its pages. Actually, this fellow has been simmering behind the scenes since I started venturing down this perennial path, more than ten years ago.
I’d originally intended to introduce SPM in a different volume of work long before now, but life has it’s ways of taking us down roads we never imagined, so this will now be his main debut. As such, it is also worth mentioning that this new comic is intended to pull together the various loose threads I’ve introduced over the last decade, so keep a close eye in the following weeks as we ramp up towards the proper christening of this new comic.
Peace!
Here’s the first page of the new webcomic I’m working on. A couple posts back I shared page four of this project; did that for a couple reasons, but now I’m realizing it’d be better to just start from the beginning.
This is simply the pencils, so before the final draft is posted it’ll be inked and colored/shaded in photoshop, which may take me a little while yet, given my current pace.
Here’s a video of me at XCape Con in MI from 2008. In it I explain the vision behind Archetypal Images and why I’m inspired to make the comics I do. Incidentally, I went ahead and actually manifested a Youtube page to host it, so if you’re curious you can check that out via the social network links in the sidepanel.
So where are all the comics, you ask? Well, I’m currently busting my hump to get some new material out this spring, as well as reformatting everything I’ve done up to this point to make the presentation more streamlined and in the workflow of the rest of the site.
If you check out my last post you’ll see the pencils for one of the first few pages of my new project. And if you haven’t yet seen the Sponsorship Special comic, that’s my most professional publication to date.
Also, if you’re on Facebook and would really like to do me a huge favor, I’m participating in a contest to win a large grant to help me finance working on my projects full time—all it takes is getting your vote! Here’s the link to where you can do that: http://apps.facebook.com/dockerswearthepants/entries/13021
Incidentally, you can vote once each day, so if you can spare a moment from now until March 15th you’d really be doing me a huge favor!
Thanks!
Hey everyone—I’ve just entered a contest to win financing for working on my comics full time, and through this next month I need to get as many of your votes as possible to make this work.
I’ve got a new comic strip in the works that I’m looking to get out ASAP, and winning this contest would make a huge difference. For now, to give you a quick peak, here’s the pencils for one of the first few pages.
Also, if you haven’t yet read it, please check out the link to the Sponsorship Special comic!
This book explains the premise of my work, and will hopefully give you some insight into the character of the projects I’m looking for your support on.
Thanks, and all the best!
Hey there, world–just wanted to take a moment to quickly address my long absence and let you know that things will be picking back up here soon. A lot has occurred since this last summer that has kept me away, but I’ll be coming out of hibernation in the coming months, so stay tuned.
Incidentally, if you have the site saved in your RSS feeds you probably noticed the feed has not been working for a while. As I get things spun back up I will be fixing this.
All the best to you and yours,
E!
I mentioned in my recap of the Small Press & Alternative Comics Expo this last March that while there I’d been interviewed for a podcast hosted through Comic Related, a site that specializes in reporting on comics. I just got word yesterday that it’s now up on their site, so naturally I wanted to forward it on to you all. You can check it out via the link below.
Comic Related – The Related Recap #120
Wait for the audio to load, then if you want you can forward ahead to my interview, which starts at 40:25—and if you’re interested, right after that is an interview with my buddy Jay Jacot from Lansing.
Enjoy!

The link was working earlier, but seems problematic now…so if you try it and it doesn’t work please give it another shot later.
This is a bit overdue, but I wanted to do a quick recap of the Kids Read Comics event I attended in Chelsea this last weekend.
This was the first time this event has been organized, and it was really a great turnout. There were tons of families present with their children, getting some great exposure to some very talented creators and expanding their appreciation for the comic art form.
The fate of comics is one that I’m sure will prosper in the years ahead, but given how comics have matured so much in so little time it’s harder for parents to find books that are appropriate for young readers, leading many in the industry to develop plans for attracting the next generation to this amazing medium. It’s events like this one that really go that extra mile to help them do just that—promoting education as well as entertainment—and it was a privilege to be a part of it.
A big thanks to Dan Mishkin, Edith Burney and Dan & Katie Merritt for organizing this very special event, and may it grow by leaps and bounds in the years ahead!
For those who are interested, there’s a podcast from the event that actually discusses the future of comics, which you can find here: http://mlatcomics.com/krc/?p=303
First off, the convention was amazing. It was the most successful event I’ve had to date (other than my book release party last September), and a total blast.
What really made it rock was that I met so many people who were on the same wavelength—folks who immediately picked up on the references in the art and identified with the message and/or approach I’m taking to make my dream of a better world come to life. There were also a lot of people who were gung-ho about supporting local artists, which really helped. I want to send out a big ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who stopped by and picked something up—you really made my weekend!
Pretty much all the artists I spoke with met with similar success, which I was glad to hear. It was ironic that despite the challenging economic times we live in, this seemed to be the best Motor City Comic Con in the last few years, as if people were searching for a good reason to enjoy themselves amidst the struggles we’re all facing. Whatever the cause, though, everyone I spoke with was having a great time and really living it up.
I also want to send out a big thanks to my parents who contributed to the growing cost of having a table at the convention, and an extra special thanks to RYAN CLAYTOR and JAY JAYCOT and JONATHON GORDON—these, my fellow comic comrades from Lansing (and table neighbors during the the convention), made a special, out-of-their-way-trip Saturday night to grab extra copies of my books which were on consignment at comic shops in Lansing, because I was doing so well at the show that by the end of Saturday I was down to only three books! Their side-trip made it possible for me to return to the show on Sunday with enough stock to last the rest of the show. Thanks guys!
Incidentally, my goal was to sell all my remaining books at this show—though I had no idea what to expect, initially—and by Sunday’s end I had only two books left! ROCK! Now I’ve got to order more books, and boy is that a good feeling!
Lastly, I also want to thank my buddies Elliot and Jeremy who were kind enough to help me out at my table over the weekend, making it possible for me to get away for a bit and see some of the other amazing artists at the show. It’s good to be busy at these things, but it makes it that much more difficult to see what else is going on and really network with people. Because of my buds I was able to do that—THANKS, GUYS!
That pretty much says it all for the MCCC.
The next show coming up is in Chelsea, MI on the 12-13th of June: Kids Read Comics!
Check it out if you can!
